Billy Corgan and His New Guitar

Smashing Pumpkins’ leader Billy Corgan had developed his own guitar model specifically designed for Fender. Practically, Corgan’s guitar represents another version of the legendary Fender Stratocaster, and includes unsignificant differences from the original type, says Aversion.

This guitar is made for “the modern powerful sounds”, incorporating three DiMarzio sound receivers (two of them were made for this guitar only), and special bridge which lets strings go through itself, not on top of it like everywhere else.  This guitar should look exclusively black or white.

The original Fender Stratocaster was first designed back in 1954. An instrument “saw” almost every rock musician in the history of music since mid-1950’s, and still remains to be very popular.

"Chinese Democracy" Is Leaking

Nine tracks from the Guns N’ Roses’ “Chinese Democracy” album had been stolen. On June 18 they’ve appeared on the Antiquiet.com website. Six of these tracks were previously seen in demo versions, but their current appearence is way better in quality.

Almost right away these tracks were deleted from the mentioned above website, and it’s authors are saying that they had to remove them over the huge turmoil surrounding it. However, all nine songs had enough time to go into the Internet’s wilderness, and it’s secrecy is no more existing.

Nine tracks contain already known songs, and those are IRS, Better, Chinese Democracy, Madagascar, The Blues, There Was A Time, and three more without names.

Musicians have begun their work with “Chinese Democracy” back in 1994, but it’s release was postponed for numerous times. In March 2008 Dr Pepper had announced that if this album is going to be released before the end of this year they shall grant a free drink to every American.

In April it became known that Geffen Records had already received “Chinese Democracy” from Guns N’ Roses and soon it should be heard all around the world.

Back To The Roots

One of the oldest computer made music record was recently demonstrated in dedication to the 60th anniversary of Baby Machine, a predecessor of modern computers.

The record was made by BBC in autumn of 1951 using the Manchester University built Ferranti Mark I which played Baa Baa Black Sheep and a short version of In the Mood. Before it was believed that the earliest record was produced by IBM machine, based in Bell Labs, USA.

Ferranti Mark I was not the primary computer to produce and record music sounds. Few months prior to the mentioned above record there existed another one that was compiled on SCIRAC, the first Australian digital computer. This record (Colonel Bogie) was not preserved.

Ferranti Mark I is considered to be the foremost commercially available computer. This model was originally created in February of 1951.

Seems Like Some Kind Of Jelousy

Duran Duran’ bassist John Taylor has accused Madonna of stealing his ideas, says Gigwise.

He insists on the fact that she stole his idea on asking Justin Timberlake and Timbaland to participate in making of the Duran Duran’s album. Taylor said that “it wouldn’t be the first time Madonna’s copied us. She’s been doing it for years”, but not specifying where and when she was doing it.

Justin Timberlake and Timbaland were producing Madonna’s new album “Hard Candy” that was released this spring. The album had conquered number one on the British hits-chart. In contrast, the same two singers have participated in the Duran Duran’s production of their “Red Carpet Massacre” in 2007 which received 44th place.

A Winning Case

Ozzy Osbourne has won the court case against a newspaper which was saying that a recent Brit Awards ceremony was almost cancelled because of his health problems, notes Sky News.

An article called ‘Ozzy Freak Show’ was published by the British  tabloid Daily Star in February (2008) soon after Ozzy together with his wife Sharon and his two children took part in mentioned above ceremony as a presenter.

This article said that right before the show Osbourne fell twice and organizers were looking forward to hospitalize him without allowing his participation.

Besides that, Daily Star wrote that Ozzy was moving on a wheelchair, asking managers to find him a good seat, so when he gets tired during the ceremony he may take some rest.

Ozzy’s suit against a publishing company Express Newspapers was tried by the High Court of England and Wales in London. Following the results of this case trial Daily Star was forced to admit that their material about Ozzy was ‘totally false’, and a newspaper’s lawyer Kate Wilson brought some excuses to a musician.

A sum of indemnity that will be payed by Express Newspapers will go to the charity organization led by Sharon Osbourne – Colon Cancer Program. Also, Express Newspapers should cover Ozzy’s court expanses.

"Atom Heart Mother" Is Coming Back

Legendary David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd) is going to perform an instrumental suite from the album “Atom Heart Mother”, released in 1970.

As notes New Musical Express, this concert will be incorporated into the Chelsea Festival in London on June 15. It shall include performances by violencellist Carolyn Dale, tribue-band Mun Floyd, Ron Geesin (co-author of “Atom Heart Mother”), and a choir from the Royal musical college, called Canticum. All together they should help Gilmour to perform a 24–minutes suite, which contains six parts: “Father’s Shout, “Breat Milky”, “Mother Fore”, “Funky Dung,” “Mind Your Throats, Please”, “Remergence”.

As The Guardian says, David Gilmour was also preparing to take part in “Glastonbury”, the biggest open-air British music festival. However, the festival’s organizers had welcomed the American rapper Jay-Z instead of the Pink Floyd’s legendary musician. They’re explaining this decision by their wish to attract younger audience. Nevertheless, this year’s “Glastonbury” could not sell all the tickets for the first time in it’s history. A festival will take place in the Somerset county on 27–29 of June.
