Legendary Metallica won the honourable Hall of Fame Award from the British rock n’ roll magazine Kerrang! on August 22. The editor-in-chief and the program’s presenter Paul Brannigan had said, “Everyone who has performed today is being under the influence of Metallica and it’s classic albums”. Listeners gave this band a standing ovation, said The Telegraph. Even after all kinds of trouble and a lack of new albums in almost six years this group is still moving on. Simply unstopable… “We are very, very appreciative of all the love we feel around us,” said the band’s singer James Hetfield.
Rage Against The Machine (playing in rapcore style) also had received the Hall of Fame status, which was previously given to the bands like Judas Priest and AC/DC. The new-metal band Slipknot was honoured by the ‘Ikon’ award. Another American band 30 Seconds To Mars lead by Jared Leto had received two awards: as the best non-British music project and as an author of the best single. The coolest British newcomers were said to be the band from London - Slave To Gravity.
