Smashing Pumpkins had recorded a new single under the name “G.L.O.W.”. A disc should be released in the beginning of September, and will become the third record (previous ones were “Zeitgeist” and a single “American Gothic”) since the band’s reunion in 2006 (and the first one since they’ve left Reprise Records). On August 8 the band will start a small American tour dedicated to their 20th anniversary, which should be concluded by the release of another DVD. Also, by the end of this year Smashing Pumpkins is planning to begin working on the new album.
In the meantime, the band’s leader Billy Corgan took a legal action against Lester Cohn – a documentary film director of Pure DV Productions. Smashing Pumpkin’s frontman had hired Cohn in order to make a variety of new footages from their concerts and studio sessions during 2003/2005. However, Corgan turned to be extremely dissatisfied with the quality of Cohn’s work, and demands him to return these footages. If Corgan wins, the court will rule Cohn to pay one hundred thousand dollars. At the same time the leader of Smashing Pumpkins is having legal proceedings with their former record label – Reprise Records.
