Recently one of Take That’s artists Gary Barlow was proclaimed to be the best British songwriter, said Monsters & Critics. Seriously, this statement looks a little big vague and unusual because otherwise groups like Pink Floyd or The Beatles will have to move out before Barlow, so it’s definitely not fair, and incorrect. Such results were taken by Onepoll after asking and talking to three thousand music lovers. Nowdays Barlow, who is obviously not without a talent, is considered to be one of the most successful authors-performers of the 1990’s. Songs like “Pray”, “Back for Good”, “Patience” turned Take That into a pop music sensation of it’s time. Besides Take That, he used to write for Atomic Kitten, Blue, Charlotte Church and others. Barlow’s efforts did not go unnoticed, he received five Ivor Novello awards, which are specifically made up for the best songwriters.
Polls have shown that Gary Barlow had pushed John Lennon and Paul McCartney onto the second and third places. Still, it sounds quite unbelievable. However, this is not the first time when Take That goes number one instead of The Beatles. In 2008 they were proclaimed to be the greatest ‘boys band’ in the history of show business, leaving legendary ‘Liverpool four’ behind themselves.
